MSI’s Mech 2 graphics cards give AMD another Radeon-exclusive brand - devertakelp
Nvidia killed its controversial GeForce Spouse Program 15 years ago, just AMD-inside hardware keeps along coming. This calendar week, MSI announced a inexperient Mech 2 lineup of Radeon RX 500-series graphics cards settled on "Polesta" GPUs. Radeon-only Asus Arez and ASRock Phantom Gaming brands have also been revealed this spring.
Details are scarce, but the Mech 2 serial publication appears to slot in between MSI's affordable Armor GPUs and high-end Gaming-brand graphics cards. MSI says the cards feature film a new cooler with the company's Torx 2.0 fans and a completely custom PCB, bolstered by military socio-economic class 4 components, a black metal backplate, and an illuminated RGB LED dragon logo that hind end exist made-to-order to whatever color you desire.
MSI expects Radeon RX 570 and RX 580 Mech 2 cards to set up in July. We'd expect to hear more about them during Computex at the beginning of June. And if the Radeon 500X rebranding in April didn't convince you that we won't reckon a fresh lineup of AMD GPUs this summer, the timing of the MSI Mech 2's launch should settle dow the question.
Why this matters: AMD secure more Radeon-but brands were inbound in its unexclusive swipe at the GeForce Pardner Programme, and that still appears to make up the case even though Nvidia abruptly ended GPP. Nvidia never processed what the GeForce Partner Plan actually entailed, only accordant to an exposé away HardOCP's Kyle Bennett, the dodge demanded that graphics card makers devote a brand exclusively to GeForce. It's suspected that these new Radeon brands were created because of that, with graphics card makers saving their virtually prominent lines—much as Asus's Commonwealth of Gamers and MSI's Gaming X—for Nvidia.
The upstart Radeon brands appear here to persist. The real question: Will top-shelf brands like ROG and Gaming X continue to fly the AMD flag in the future? If non, the spirit of the GeForce Partner Program will go even if it's technically dead. Stay tuned.
